Namma Bangalore (Our Bangalore)

Among the fastest growing cities in South Asia, Bangalore is one of India's most attractive and enjoyable cities. Blessed with a pleasant climate and dotted with verdant parks, broad tree-lined avenues and modern buildings the city has earned the sobriquet "Garden City". The city is popular for horse racing, golf, tennis, luxury hotels and palate-tickling cuisine. The Chinnaswamy Stadium here has been the venue of many heart-stopping cricket matches. The bazaars and shopping malls offer a fine selection of silks, sandalwood souvenirs, handicrafts and fragrant incense sticks. The city is very cosmopolitan and people can and are willing to converse in English, Kannada, Hindi, Tamil or Telegu with equal ease. Mahatma Gandhi Road, Brigade Road, Commercial Street and Kempegowda Road constitute the city's fashionable centres. This where the city's restaurants, cinema theatres and shopping malls are.

The National Law School provides a bus service daily for students to drop them off at various places in town some interesting places to see in Bangalore.

Vidhana Soudha, which houses the State's Legislature and Secretariat, is a most interesting piece of architecture that pleasantly combines remarkable temple architecture and the needs of a secretarial building. The famous Cubbon Park was laid out in 1864 by Lt. General Sir Mark Cubbon. It is huge garden set right in the heart of the city. Within walking distance from the park are the Government Museum, the Public Library, the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum and Venkatappa Art Gallery. The lush Lalbagh Gardens stands as proof to the ecological ethos of erstwhile Mysore's rulers. The towering Glass House, based upon the Crystal palace in London is set like a glistening diamond in a sea of emeralds. Inside the Lalbagh Gardens is a watchtower built in 1537 by Kempe Gowda, the founder of Bangalore. Other attractions here include the deer park, the rose garden and the unusual flower clock. The Bangalore Palace in the sprawling Palace Grounds is a unique edifice inspired by the Windsor Castle and built in the Tudor style. The Palace Grounds are famous for another reason. Bangalore is on the itinerary of almost all major pop/rock acts visiting the subcontinent. The last year has seen Deep Purple, Bryan adams and the Scorpions give thrilling concerts in the city, the venue of all these concerts being the Palace Grounds. The Grounds are also play host to international events like Bangalore IT.COM and Bio.Com.

Nagarbhavi Barthiya (Are you coming to Nagarbhavi?!)

The quiet, unassuming suburb of Nagarbhavi plays an unlikely host to the NLSIU campus. Nestled about 12 kms from the station and about 17 kms from M.G. Road, the heart of the city, the neighbourhood has enough facilities to ensure that you never wander too far. Apart from the usual general provisions stores, chemists and stationary marts, it has a pool parlour, cyber café's (just in case the comp lab's closed for maintenance), small restaurants, the barber, a couple of VCD stores and even a travel agent. But the average lawschoolites favourite spot is the Aishwarya Bakery, whose egg puff, bun and cheese is called the "Law School Special".

Nagarbhavi is well connected to the city with regular bus services. Auto rickshaws can be found aplenty too till late evening. The State Bank of India has a branch office here.
