Seniority

— Determination of seniority — Length of service — Temporary appointee — Period of temporary service prior to regularisation — Regard to — Held, seniority of a person appointed temporarily to a particular post without recourse to the recruitment rules, can be counted only from the date on which his services are regularised — Hence, seniority of promotees herein determined considering the date of their initial temporary appointment as starting point of their seniority, was not proper — Direction made for redetermining the seniority of the appellant direct recruits in relation to the said promotees after reckoning the starting point of seniority of the promotees from the date on which their services were regularised, (2006) 6 SCC 558
