			  The construction of creative learning processes and new sites of learning
			  mandate a strong research programme. Informed law making and implementation
			  need to be backed with research. These objectives prompt the research programme
			  of the University.
              
               
			  In the previous year the University has been
			  actively engaged with  State authorities, international institutions, law 
			  functionaries, non governmental organisations and individuals.
               
			  
			  Development of curricula in emerging
			  areas for diverse learning needs is a high priority area of research for the 
			  University, Environment Protection, Child Rights, Disability Rights Law, Poverty
			  and Development, Legal Language and Communication are areas in which research is in 
			  progress in the University.
               
			  In order to accord exclusive attention to these identified areas the University is in the process of setting up centres for:
			- Social Justice and Empowerment
 
			- Environment Protection and Sustainable Development
 
			- Languages and Legal Communication
 
			- Intellectual Property Rights and Corporate Governance
 
			- Information Technology and Cyber Laws
 
			- Human Rights and Duties

RESEARCH CENTRES FOR IP LAWS AND ENVIRONMENT LAWS
Dr. N.C. Banerjee Centre for Intellectual Property Law Studies and Dr. S.P. Chatterjee Centre for Environmental Law Studies are established with a munificent donation given by Hon'ble Mr. Justice U.C. Banerjee. The  former centre is named after Justice U.C. Banerjee's father and the latter centre is named after his father-in-law. The  activities of these two centres will take off with the appointment of senior teachers soon. These two centres were inaugurated on 1st July, 2002 by Hon'ble Mr. Justice B.N. Kirpal, the then Chief Justice of India. Hon'ble Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Hon'ble Mr. Justice S.S.M. Quadri, Hon'ble Mr. Justice U.C. Banerjee, Hon'ble Mr. Justice P. Venkatrama Reddi, Hon'ble Mr. Justice A.R. Lakshmanan, other sitting and retired Judges and Mr. Devender Goud, Hon'ble Home Minister of A.P. were also present on the occasion. 
The  centres will undertake research, advocacy and related projects on IP Laws and Environment  Laws. A detailed schedule of programmes are being worked out. The centres will also have dedicated websites of their own. 
NALSAR-GRIFFITH EXCHANGE PROGRAMME
A memorandum of understanding between Griffith University, Brisbane, in the State of Queensland, Australia and NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad in the State of Andhra Pradesh, India was signed in November, 2001. The  main objectives of the MOU interitalalia are exchange of academic staff for purposes of teaching and research; exchange of students for undergoing courses in the Host University, research collaboration and mutual assistance in the organisation of Seminars, Conferences and Workshops. As a first step in this direction a student from Griffith University, Mr. Antony Beadle has arrived in January 2003 to undergo one full semester study doing five courses. It is likely that a couple of students from NALSAR will spend a semester at Griffith University during the course of coming semesters.
